I am not in a good mood...kinda pissed with my job. Story tracked back to the first day, whereby three of us been followed two permanent staffs to outlets doing nothing. We thought Monday would be better 'coz we are going to see our manager who knows more than them, so no worries, just bear with them for that one day since it is not their fault, it is just a communication break-down between them with HR person-in-charge.
On Monday, we were briefed by Ms Jane from HR department together with that two staffs who brought us to outlet on Saturday, only then we knew that one of them is our supervisor. Ms Jane is just briefly explained our working days, attire, allowance, and she seems like not too sure about our job scopes after hearing us saying we are food science & nutrition students. So, she just told us we will be doing auditing job, counting stock in and out, checking variance, and finally doing quality auditing at outlets. And she informed us that Ms Jessie would be our evaluator (but I never see her, she never speak to us until Thursday).
For that morning, we were sitting there again, reading menu for 4 hours until lunch time. After lunch, we could not stand anymore, we asked for work. Kak Su taught us to check opening stock and closing stock. Basically, outlet supervisor will record daily activities in log books, and they have to send those 5 books plus some other documents back to HQ on the following month and auditors will have to check and compare, calculate variance, mainly numbers and basic plus, minus mathematics is used. Doesn't it sound like accounting job for you? For your information, I am actually working at accounting office.
Tuesday, Kak Ila (supervisor) and Kak Su went to outlet, we were left behind with one new staff in the office. This lady is so kind that she kept looking for tasks for us to do. We were so annoying kept asking her, Kak, ada lagi kerja tak? So, I am quite happy on Tuesday because I get to do something rather than just sitting there, though it was not related to my course.
Wednesday, we were told that we are going for a training today and we were so excited about the training! Finally something related to our course. We went to Taman Megah SR at about 11am, and the so called training ended in 1 hour! The trainer just told us something very basic and something we had learn in school. We are here to apply our knowledge into real life, but we did not get a chance to do so. Carmen even overheard the trainer spoke to our supervisor. She said we are only working there for 2 months, so need no to teach us a lot of things, brief training will do. WTH!!! I am a trainee, I have my rights too! We were so angry when Carmen told us what she had heard. This whole thing is just sick!! We dealing to numbers again after lunch. I am so sick with numbers...I did not study any mathematics subjects after year one first semester, but now I am assigned a job that dealing with NUMBERS! So, we decided to call CECS (co-op office) and asked for Ms Amy, the person-in-charge in Uni, opinions. All of the works that we had done are not related to our course at all. But unfortunately we could not get Ms Amy online.
After attempts, Carmen told me Michelle spoke to her supervisor, her supervisor said will bring our issue to meeting, she asked us to wait patiently for the outcome, so we waited. After that, I heard from Kai Li that they failed to 'rescue' us from audit department because this stubborn Ms Jessie (CFO of SR) said she had already booked us and no one can touch us. Due to her position, no one dare to touch us and no one could touch us. I really don't understand why she insists of keeping us in audit department even she knows we are food science students? For display purposes? Anyway, it was too late to call Ms Amy.
On Thursday, which is today, Carmen suppose to go to outlet but she did not go because the senior staffs haven't get the documents done, so Kak Ila went to outlet with Kak Su only. We were left in office again. For the whole morning, we did calculation again, and we helped other department to do things, and we even have time to read magazine.
This is not the intern we want. So, we called CECS manager and we decided to talk to Jessie face to face since from all the information we get, she is the one in-charge of us and the one who can make decision. Eventually, she still insists to keep us in audit department and give us a lot of excuses and bring us round and round with her nice words. What pissed me off is she told us we all are only working for 2 months so they can not teach us so many things...blah..blah..and a lot of things. And she even called Kak Ila and scolded her for not giving us work to do?! then Kak Ila called us and scolded us?! And Kak Ila also called Ms Jane and she came to audit department to speak to us. And the small small issue becomes a big fuss now.
We see Jessie just to clear our doubts. We don't mean to trouble them or make any complaints. Beside that, we paid about 2K to school for this 2 months training, we are hoping for the best, we hope to learn as much as possible in these 2 months. None of them know we paid to work, and when we told our colleagues we are food science students, they all are like Huh? then why you girls doing in audit department? They thought we are accounting students.
This whole thing is just so so so pissed me off! I realized this entry is kinda messy, my brain could not function well now. You can just read conclusion.
Conclusion is, we are 2nd year food science students undergo training. We paid to school to work. We expect something related to our course and hope we can learn as much as we could. Ms Jessie from SR is just B***CHY! She gave a lot of excuses. She not allowed us to change to processing department. She likes to add oil on fire. We are doing something not related to our course...hmm...somehow related but that is a totally new section. None of the senior auditors know how to do, and I am kinda sure they are not hiring us to develop this quality auditing thing, so, what do we do? Audit?
For the moment, I keep on thinking, was that a wrong decision to voice out our doubts? Should I accept the job offer even they give me more tasks to do since I haven't sign any offer letter yet, I can go anytime with school permission. Should I just bear with the unfairness? What should I do? Point me a way out, please!
